Thank you for choosing to use our learning materials.
These resources are specifically designed to enable students to learn about The Holocaust and its contemporary relevance in an independent way within the restrictions that schools are currently operating.
They are designed to be appropriate for children in the 11 – 15 age group and highlight examples of rescue and resistance in order to inspire students to consider the choices and consequences of their own actions.
For a comprehensive overview of the Holocaust we recommend The Wiener Library’s resource
which provides an excellent account of the broader historical context of these events.

THE RESOURCE To support the theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day BE THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS, here are 10 downloadable candle templates that tell inspirational “active bystander” stories that are directly related to The Holocaust (with accompanying downloadable extra information) and 10 modern-day examples.
THE ACTIVITY Students can print, cut out and stick together as many of these candles as they like. They can then print out the blank candle template provided and create their own Candle of Hope, celebrating the people who light up their darkness. This could be a family member, close friend, key-worker, historical icon or an inspirational role model of today.
THE RESOURCE We have downloadable presentations about 2 Holocaust survivors, Mala Tribich and Eva Clarke, and one with with author and poet Michael Rosen.
